Biisoni Keski-Suomi Oy · Lohja
(Senior) Software Developer - Warehouse Management Systems, Kasten
Job description
Kasten's journey began in 1886, and we manufactured our first shelving systems in 1951 for the Summer Olympics held the following year. These shelves may well have been the first domestically manufactured steel storage shelves in Finland. Today, we are one of the world's leading providers of storage solutions. Since January 2018, we have been part of the Gonvarri Material Handling Group, which, in addition to Kasten, includes other leading industry brands such as Dexion, Constructor, Stålteknik, and Kredit.
With six production facilities located in Germany, Romania, Finland, Sweden, and the Czech Republic, we design and manufacture customized storage solutions for customers worldwide. Our offering ranges from fixed shelving systems to fully automated warehouse solutions. We employ approximately 1,300 people directly across Europe and operate through an extensive distributor network covering not only Europe, but also Africa, the Middle East, and both South and North America.
Would you be our new (Senior) Software Developer - Warehouse Management Systems?
In this role, you will combine hands-on software development with technical ownership, problem solving and customer-facing technical work within Kasten’s evolving software environment. You will contribute to new features and technical solutions from an early stage while gradually increasing ownership of the software solutions, their integrations and the overall technical environment.
A key part of your role is understanding how different systems and technologies work together and taking ownership of solving technical challenges across system boundaries. These may involve applications, SQL databases, REST or XML integrations, data transfer or other parts of the technical environment. Your technical decisions and ideas will have a visible impact on the solutions delivered to customers.
You will work closely with software and engineering specialists, sales and service teams, customers’ IT departments, ERP consultants and other partners. Your responsibilities include integrations, technical configurations, testing and documentation, as well as providing technical support and helping customers and partners investigate and resolve issues. You will also share your expertise through demonstrations, training and technical guidance for internal teams, customers and partners in Finland and internationally.
You will also become familiar with the existing Delphi-based TCPlus solution and contribute to its maintenance and further development. Previous Delphi experience is not required, but you should be willing to learn and interested in understanding established systems alongside modern software development. Support will be available as you build this knowledge.
Approved AI-assisted development tools are part of our development practices, giving you the opportunity to utilise them thoughtfully in your daily work. At the same time, you will remain responsible for reviewing, testing and understanding the code they produce.
The position is permanent and full-time, and you will be employed directly by Kasten. We value close collaboration and therefore prefer a working style where more than half of the week is spent together at our Lohja office. However, if you are the right fit for the role but based further away, we are open to agreeing on a hybrid working model that supports both your situation and the needs of the team. The role also requires occasional travel in Finland and abroad the rough estimation being a few days monthly.
What do we expect from you?
We are looking for a software development professional with at least five years of relevant experience. A solid hands-on background in software development is essential, while experience in other relevant technical responsibilities, such as system integrations, technical problem solving or customer-facing technical work, is considered valuable alongside it. A suitable educational background in information technology, software development or another relevant field, or an equivalent level of expertise gained through professional experience is appreciated.
To succeed in this role, you have strong programming skills and hands-on experience with modern software development. Experience with TypeScript, Node.js and React is highly relevant to the role, but a strong background in comparable modern technologies and the ability to quickly learn and become productive with new ones is equally valuable.
Strong SQL and relational database expertise is important, as is hands-on experience with REST APIs and system integrations. More broadly, you are confident in investigating technical problems across system boundaries and finding practical solutions. Experience with warehouse management, logistics or ERP systems is considered a strong advantage.
As a senior professional, you are comfortable taking technical ownership beyond individual development tasks and building an understanding of broader software and integration environments. You communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, document your work clearly and approach technical challenges proactively and systematically. You are solution-oriented, collaborative and eager to learn new technologies. Fluent English is required, while Finnish is considered an advantage.
Experience with technologies such as Delphi, Azure and Docker, along with familiarity with CI/CD practices, ERP integrations, warehouse automation and AI-assisted development tools, will help you get up to speed even faster.
Why join Kasten?
This is a newly created position where you will have the opportunity to make a real impact from day one. At Kasten, development is continuous, and you will have the chance to contribute to new initiatives from an early stage, influencing both technical decisions and the future direction of our solutions.
You will work in a diverse technical environment spanning software development, databases, integrations, automation and connected devices, combining hands-on development with long-term technical ownership of software solutions. As part of a multidisciplinary and internationally connected team, you will collaborate closely with software, automation, engineering, sales and service professionals as well as customers and colleagues across multiple countries.
Kasten is a respected global company with a forward-looking mindset. You will enjoy a high degree of ownership, responsibility and freedom in your work, with the opportunity to grow into broader technical or leadership responsibilities as the team evolves. For now, this is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, contributing to software development and leaving a visible mark on the solutions they build. Comprehensive occupational healthcare, wellness benefits and flexible ways of working further support your wellbeing and professional growth.
