Trainee Radiation Protection Adviser

Company Description: Radman Associates is an independent firm of consultants providing RPA services to industrial companies, research organisations and Universities throughout the UK. In addition to advising on the technical and compliance matters concerned with radiation safety in the workplace, we undertake contaminated land surveys, deliver numerous training courses and provide technical support services.

Role Description: To support the continued growth of our RPA team we are seeking an enthusiastic trainee RPA who will: 

• Visit industrial and research clients across the UK to audit compliance with radiation safety legislation.
• Contribute to the delivery of our monthly Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) training courses.
• Undertake critical examinations of X-ray and sealed source equipment for radiation safety purposes.
• Assist with surveys and investigations involving radiological contamination.

Qualifications

• A degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. physics, chemistry or biology).
• A minimum of two years' relevant industrial and/or research experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver training and prepare clear, professional reports for clients.
• Organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to follow structured procedures safely and consistently.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willing to travel throughout the UK and to stay away from home on average one night per week.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team, with a professional, respectful, and inclusive approach to colleagues and clients.

Desirable:

• Experience of working with sources of ionising radiation and/or within the UK regulatory environment, including familiarity with relevant UK legislation, standards and industry practices.
